SERP snippet preview

Type in a title, URL and description to see how your page might look in Google's results on a computer and on a phone.

Everything stays in your browser.

0 characters · ~0 px of 580 px

Google cuts titles longer than about 580 px on desktop. Width matters more than the number of letters: one W takes up the space of three i’s.

Google shows it as a path: domain › section › page. Short and readable is best.

0 characters · ~0 px of 920 px

About 920 px show on desktop, a little less on a phone. Google sometimes rewrites it anyway.

Google puts words in the description that match the search in bold. This preview does the same.

How I work out where it gets cut

Google doesn’t cut after a fixed number of characters. It cuts when it runs out of room. That’s why this tool measures the width of your text in pixels, using a font close to the one in the results (Arial, 20 px for the title and 14 px for the description).

The thresholds I use: about 580 px for the title and 920 px for the description on desktop. On mobile, about 680 px for the description, and the title can wrap onto two lines.

These are estimates based on how the results look today. If Google changes its layout, the thresholds change too.

Snippet looks fine but competitors are still above you?

Then the title isn't the problem. You need to look at what they're doing, and that's what the competitor analysis is for.
